It is in the purity of our hearts that we become Peacemakers and be able to preach the Gospel of Peace and not fear the outcome.
Scripture tells us, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things” (Rom 10:15). The word of God is the Gospel of peace, knowing the truth of God brings us eternal peace. Yeshua said Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27) So when we have the peace, the Shalom of God, we do not worry or fear what the people of the world fear about. Because we know the will of Yeshua through His word, we have rest! It is like having a father you trust in; you do not worry because you know you Father has got it.
Who was the Prince of Peace, but YESHUA Shlomo Ben David himself, who was hanged on a tree for daring to preach the gospel of peace to the children of Judah in Jerusalem? Jesus was hanged naked on a tree because he dared to preach the Good news which brings peace, so we have to understand what the peace of God really means, in that the Peace of God is not the absence of conflict!! It is very important. That is why Yeshua declared I did not come to bring Peace into this world I came to bring a Sword! For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother-in-law. “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” Mind you, this is the Prince of Peace speaking. What sword is Yeshua talking about? The Sword we know is the Word of God, which He says will divide a family. Indeed, Jerusalem was turned upside down on its head when Yeshua preached.
We can easily see this kind of division Yeshua is talking about when we observe the sharp divisions which have arisen in the political divide down south between the main political rivals of Republicans and Democrats how it has divided the nation to every fabric of society. That is how the truth of God at the end time is going to bring and we have to be ready and know the truth of God for ourselves so we can stand in it. Yeshua said “And Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me” Matthew 11:6.
His preaching offended the Pharisees and Sadducees who plotted against him and crucified him, with the intention it would bring peace to Jerusalem but what did it rather bring? War! One of the most callous wars known to mankind was the Rome-Jewish was of AD70.[1] War which ended in the destruction of the state in AD 70. In Luke 19:42 Yeshua stated “42 Saying, if thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. 3 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” So, we see Jerusalem was destroyed because the leaders failed to see the Son of David who was the Prince of Peace prophesized to come! The leaders were offended by the teaching of the messiah but in Psalm 119:165 the scripture tells us “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” So, if we truly know and understand the Law of God nothing shall offend us! Those that are offended are not meek but proud, and they cannot be taught by Yeshua. Scripture tells us in Matthew 24:10 that, at the end time 10 “And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.” Which means the scenes which occurred in the first advent of Yeshua is going to be repeated at the end time as people who do not know and understand the commandments and law of God, like the Pharisees were, would be offended by the preaching of the Gospel of peace, and by taking offence will betray one another and hate each other. So, in order to not be offended and fall under the judgement of God, we have to desire to know and understand the commandments of God and have His Righteousness which comes by faith in Him.
We become peacemakers because we love the truth, and God has worked in our lives so much that we DESIRE TO SHARE THE GOSPEL OF PEACE TO OTHERS NOTWITHSTANDING THE CIRCUMSTANCES. We preach the Gospel of peace because we desire for others to also experience the joy of salvation in Yeshua. Yeshua said “Whosoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow fountains of living water.”
The Apostles were all peacemakers because they preached to their deaths, in the dark ages, many believers held onto the truth to their deaths. We must not be offended by the Gospel of Peace.
It is by this we shall be able to determine between false prophets and true prophets, scripture tells us in 1 Thess 5:3, Paul writes the following about the False Prophet at the end of Time “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” Scripture tells us that the Anti Christ who is in the World would be preaching PEACE as well, BUT HIS PEACE WILL NOT BE BASED ON THE TRUTH, Daniel 8:25 “And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.” So, we see we will be hearing issues about peace in the world, but it will not be based on truth, but rather will subvert the truth of God.[2] We will be asked to compromise on the Word of God, and deny Yeshua in order to have peace and safety in our communities and that is when those who know the righteousness of God will have to be bold.
So being a PEACEMAKER is to bring the gospel of peace, truth to a fallen world without fear or favour by the power of the Holy Spirit just as our Master Yeshua did and by that saved you and me.
It is when we become Peacemakers and preach the gospel of Peace that we become targets for Persecution… and the scripture says…
[1] Flavius Josephus explains in details how Jerusalem fell. Was this the peace the leadership wanted? Certainly no.
[2] We have to be vigilant and understand the times and seasons so we don’t fall to what others call truth.
